Terra Cafe @ Vivocity, Singapore

Terra Cafe is one of the small eateries located in Vivocity. Due to its unattractive and bland ambiance, not many people actually notice it.

However, it serves set meals at reasonable prices, with a main course, a soup and a scoop of ice cream as dessert.

Set meals are usually more worth it as compared to ordering them individually.
IMG_0795
During my 1st visit, i had Linguine Carbonara ($10.90 per set). Honestly, it was quite bland for its taste, too watery and not creamy enough. It did not wow me at all.

IMG_0800
Linguine Marina ($13.90 per set) was slightly better. Still, nothing remarkable.

IMG_0801
Potato Gratin ($9.90 per set). Good news to all vegetarians. Terra Cafe serves a number of vegetarian dishes and this is one of them. The lowest price of all set meals, but oddly tasted the best. This is the only thing i find worth trying so far. Huge chunks of potatoes, nicely baked with a spread of cheese on top.

The ice cream as a dessert that comes with the set meal.

IMG_0798
Have you noticed that the set meal does not come with a drink? I am not sure though, but I have read somewhere it seems they do not serve free flows of plain water.

If you are looking for food with reasonable prices, Terra Cafe might be a choice. One thing i like about it is that the waiters and waitresses were extremely helpful.

Opt for those with Mango. Because you can never go wrong with mangoes. The price range is around $5-$10, depends on the size of your drink.

However, the downside of it is there are no proper tables and chairs for you to relax and enjoy your drink. There is only take-away.

Ikea @ Singapore

Ikea has obviously taken into account the welfare of its customers for the long shopping hours. imagine, how many hours you would actually take to decide, measure and finally to just buy a sofa for your new living room.
Therefore, besides the spacious restaurant in Ikea, it is good to take note of the kiosk that sells a variety of sandwiches, curry puffs, ice creams, and of course Hotdogs!
It is always the most convenient place to grab a fast bite when your tummy sends you the hungry alarm.
but what’s so great about hotdogs? aren’t they the same? well, almost.
just that Ikea’s hotdogs are being served piping hot, with juicy hotdog sandwiched in a piece of soft white bread.
isn’t that comfort food? the bonus goes to the always-available sauces, hanging at a counter, chilli sauce, tomato sauce and mustard.
my favourite? a combination of tomato sauce and mustard.
with only the price of $1.20. what more can we ask for?

Crystal Jade Kitchen @ Holland Village

If you guys have been following on my blog, you would recall me having a bad experience in Crystal Jade Restaurant. However, that was Crystal Jade La Mian and Xiao Long Bao. The one that I am going to introduce today completely blew me away with their congee. It was recommended by a close friend of mine.

This Crystal Jade Restaurant, situated at Holland Village, basically sells congee, Hong Kong Dim Sum, noodles, dessert, etc.

IMG_0506
The ambiance of the ground floor of the restaurant. Of course, feel free to enjoy your meal at the second floor which is fully air-conditioned.

IMG_0504
A peek at the menu. The coloured numbers are the recommended ones.

IMG_0509
Congee in Lychee Boat Style. The name of the dish is obviously the direct translation of the chinese name of the dish itself. The texture of the congee was smooth, the taste was exactly to my liking with peanuts, squids, vegetables and some other seafood.

IMG_0512
Century Egg and Lean Meat Congee. If you want to stick with something simple, this is the one you shall order. You get huge chunks of century egg and lean meat, worth every penny of yours.

Thai Express @ Orchard

The special combination of spices and herbs in cooking Thai food is what makes it exclusive
Not many people have the talent in preparing them.
However, we can always head to a restaurant that prepares them well.
Thai Express is a chain of restaurants that serves Thai Cuisine in Singapore, China, Malaysia, New Zealand, etc.
From main meals to desserts, Thai Express has it all.

IMG_400

IMG_400
the ambiance of the restaurant with an orange theme

IMG_400

IMG_400
i always ask for additional plain water. trust me, the food is very spicy. more water will definitely help.

IMG_400
watermelon juice. $4+. it is a great way to tone down the spiciness.

IMG_400
Chiang Mai Mango Blend. $5+. a rich mango texture with bits of crushed ice.

IMG_400
Tom Yam Soup with Prawns. a must order for Tom Yam and prawn lover. all the seafood ingredients are fresh, especially the prawn, totally succulent. $6.90. order an additional bowl of white rice to go with it. $0.60

IMG_400
Thai Laksa with Seafood in Yellow Gravy. the gravy of the laksa was very thick and spicy. you can taste that many herbs and spices are being added in for the strong aroma. $9.90.

IMG_400

IMG_400
Thai Fried Chicken Wings. remember to dip it with the Thai Chilli Sauce. The little drumlets are well marinated, and the texture is not too dry for my liking.

Thai Express in Singapore is a definitely must-go restaurant. Although i have heard many bad reviews for those who dined in Malaysia. it is worth a try in Singapore for your Thai Cuisine cravings, with its reasonable and tasty meals. However, i personally feel that the drinks are slightly overpriced. so, maybe some of you can skip the drinks and order some desserts instead.

Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant @ Vivocity, Singapore

Notice that Kim Gary is based first in Malaysia but venture out to Singapore after that?
and I have only got to try it in Singapore in SINGAPORE DOLLAR?
Sadly, I have yet to try Kim Gary in Malaysia, so there is no way for me to compare at the moment
based on what I have observed, this Hong Kong style restaurant definitely does not intend to impress you with its ambience.
do not be blinded with the all-time long queue at the entrance
with their fast service, you will be directed to your table in no time.
Before trying out, I have heard so much about it, the food, the drinks
My eyes sparkled with anticipation the moment it is opened in Vivocity, Singapore

IMG_0211

IMG_0212
Cream soup that comes with the set of meal. Failed to impress me. I hate corns in cream soups. I do not think they click well.

IMG_0216
Lime Juice with Lemon Slice. If you were to be a lime juice lover, good for you.

IMG_0221
ha! my all time favourite. ‘Yin Yeung’ is a must-order for me.

IMG_0225
how can we forget the Fried Spaghetti with Pork Slices?

IMG_0238
last but not the least, the highly recommended Cheese Baked Rice.

Toast Box @ Vivocity, Singapore

Getting tired after a whole day of shopping?
or wanting to catch up with friends during a short coffee break?
Try Toast Box!

It serves a wide variety of food from toast to mee siam, take your pick.
The best thing is, you will be spoilt for choices having a BreadTalk located right next to Toast Box.
For me, I would just love a hot cup of coffee with some toasted bread with butter and just chill, looking at the people passing by

DSC02015
It is said that the toast served at Toast Box is more of a Hong Kong style, which is to say thicker toast.

I personally do not find the difference.

However, Toast Box’s coffee is currently the best alternative for my cravings for Ipoh Old Town White Coffee.
still not as good, but it is the best i can get here. =)

haha…sorry for the lack of updates.
i have been going on a diet lately. and by blogging about food will lead to a growling tummy.

i find that Singapore has many ice cream vendors that i seldom see in Malaysia, or is it only in Ipoh?
One of the famous ones, Bravissimo.

DSC02068

DSC02067
